Shooting, Drop Off
Waterbury police are investigating a shooting that left a man with serious injuries after he was dropped off at Saint Mary’s Hospital around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.  Officers located a crime scene near Macauley Avenue and Pritchard Road, where they believe the incident occurred.  The victim is reported to be in stable condition, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact detectives as the investigation remains ongoing.

"Gieuseppe Mastillo, employed in getting out stone at Saw Mill Plains, had his leg horribly crushed from the knee down yesterday afternoon by a large stone rolling over onto him. Dr Donahue was called and found that amputation was necessary, and the leg was taken off at the knee. The unfortunate man stood the operation bravely, and at last accounts was doing verv well."
