Waterbury Trades the Forest
for Amazon ... and 1,000 Jobs
The City of Waterbury and it's Naugatuck Burrough worked with the State of Connecticut and many other partners to facilitate the construction of an Amazon fulfillment center. Once completed, the center will add 1,000 jobs to the local economy. Part of the new facility will be in the City of Waterbury, and part will be in her Naugatuck borough.
The 150 acres, which are to become a local commerce giant, is primarily a forest. The high-lying parcel will sit among many other mainly industrial businesses throughout the Naugatuck Industrial Park. The site will be accessed via nearby Connecticut route 8, and locally via South Main Street in Waterbury and Waterbury Road in Naugatuck.
