MentionsThree who started the button business here were David Hayden, William G. Webster (son of Noah Webster), and Thomas H. Bond. Hayden was doubtless the one who persuaded them to embark in the enterprise, and, looking about for a place, they decided on a location near Hancock Brook, and, for some years after, the place was known as Haydensville.
