About
the Wolcott Road
Neighborhood Association (WRNA)
- There is no such thing as Wolcott Road in Waterbury any more
- and there hasn't been for several decades.
- However, if there were, it would be important to note:
- Although this, and many other neighborhood associations and neighborhood community clubs have existed in this city for, in some cases, over 100 years, and although none of them have ever been neighborhood housing associations, they have been erroneously listed as such on the official City of Waterbury website as such. To be clear, neighborhood housing associations are very much different from condo associations, and both of those are very different from organizations such as Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury (NHSW) and Loyola Development Corporation, and all of those are vastly different from any of Waterbury's neighborhood associations and neighborhood community clubs. The function, purpose, and manifestation of each of these types of organizations is significantly different, and none should be confused with the other.
- The Wolcott Road Neighborhood Association (WRNA)
- does not actually exist,
- although it almost existed.
- At least since 2010, several residents became interested in forming a neighborhood association.
- They reached out to
- the Waterbury Neighborhood Council,
- the City of Waterbury,
- the Lakewood Neighborhood Association,
- the Miracle Mile Association of Waterbury,
- and other similar organizations.
- They reached out to
- Circa 2015, these residents approached
- the then new President of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC),
- and they had several meetings with that President.
- At least 3 temporary officers were identified, including
- a President,
- a Treasurer,
- and a Secretary.
- Thos potential officers began hearing rumors of poor behavior of various Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC)
- members
- and officers,
- and the lack of support by the Waterbury Neighborhood Council for
- the Lakewood Neighborhood Association (LNA)
- the lack of support for the newly forming Cross-Over Neighborhood Association (CONA),
- poor reactions and lack of support for the existing Arlington Heights Neighborhood Association (AHNA),
- and other bad and malicious behaviors.
- the then new President of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC),
- In 2016,
- a change in the presidency of the Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC) occurred,
- and all interested parties in the Wolcott Road neighborhood became disenfranchised and disinterested.
- The Wolcott Road Neighborhood Association (WRNA) never officially formed.
