Rewarding Lives
Reach Out And Read

Most people understand that reading is a fundamental building block for a fulfilling and productive life. Experts agree that when young children are introduced to books, it can make a world of difference for language development and future academic success. But the challenge is how to get books into the hands of more young children and engage parents in daily shared reading with their children.

Click here to find out what Reach Out and Read Connecticut did to take on that challenge with grant support from Connecticut Community Foundation's LitLinks Program.

Thriving Communities
Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries

For over 30 years, Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries (GWIM) has provided warm meals and emergency food items to people in need throughout Greater Waterbury.

Recently, however, GWIM's future was in jeopardy. In March of 2014, St. John's Church could no longer provide free rent for GWIM's soup kitchen, and GWIM learned it would have to vacate its space by the end of the year. "We will always be grateful for St. John's Church. With their grace, we were able to grow our organization and provide for the needs of so many. However, we were shocked and saddened at this news," reflects Barbara Ann Dublin, Executive Director of GWIM.

Connecticut Community Foundation is excited to announce the third annual GIVE LOCAL GREATER WATERBURY & LITCHFIELD HILLS
online giving challenge!

In just 36 hours -- between 7 am on May 5th and 7 pm on May 6th - Give Local 2015 donors will make thousands of online gifts to participating organizations that serve our 21-town area. Together, the first two Give Local events generated over $1.1 million for area nonprofits. We hope your group will join us this year and be part of this community-wide event that showcases and supports the importance of nonprofits in our community!

We are thrilled that Ion Bank Foundation has once again generously offered to be the presenting sponsor of Give Local and that Crystal Rock has again underwritten the costs of a web platform that makes it easy for your donors to make safe and secure online gifts.

With support from these organizations, CCF funds and other sponsors, not only will you have an opportunity to inspire donors to give, but every dollar of every gift will be enhanced with bonus funds, and you will have opportunities to win cash prizes as well!

Registration
Visit www.givelocalccf.org to register your nonprofit by March 30, 2015.

Nonprofits that are located outside of CCF's service area, but provide services in our towns are encouraged to participate as well. However, an application of eligibility is required and must be received by March 2. A volunteer committee will review these applications, and nonprofits will be notified of their eligibility by March 16, 2015.

Info Sessions
We invite you to attend two information sessions to learn how it all works!

Please note that nonprofits new to Give Local must attend either the "Nuts & Bolts" Information in-person session (Feb. 11), or the "Nuts & Bolts" Information webinar (Feb. 13). And we strongly urge all nonprofits to attend a Making the Most of Give Local session (in-person 2/23 or webinar 2/25) to learn tips for reaching donors online and off and to hear how organizations have turned Give Local into huge fundraising successes!

We are excited about this unique opportunity for our local nonprofits and hope that you will participate! Give Local Greater Waterbury & Litchfield Hills is an amazing community event and we look forward to helping you raise unrestricted funds to support your mission.
