Michael "the Savage" Kimbel is yet another Waterbury-raised talent who made it to professional standing.  Kimbel is an expert in the very popular mixed martial arts, a sport which developed largely from another Waterbury native, Martial Arts Grand Master Joseph William Rossi.  Bantamweight Kimbel debuted his career with a win this past Friday, and is already rated in the top half of both the New England Pro Bantamweights and the U.S. Northeast Pro Bantamweights.  A graduate of Crosby High School, Kimbel, born on March 24th, 1997 is coached by his father, Daniel "Thunder" Semeraro Jr.

Darren Collarado Brass was born at Waterbury, Connecticut, on January 22nd in 1972.  When he was 28 years of age, he co-founded Ruthless and Toothless - a children's clothing store.  Brass is the famed tattoo artist and is portrayed as the reality  show character, star and subject of Miami Ink.  He became popular as the most talented and famous tattoo artist in the world when the television "reality" show, Miami Ink, aired.  Heritage: Mexican

Peter Joseph Polaco, of Italian descent, who became world famous as a professional American wrestler under the name Justin Credible, was born at Waterbury, Connecticut on October 16th, 1973.  He is also known in professional wrestling as Aldo Montoya, which is a name he used prior to his Justin Credible name.  In addition to wrestling in the World Wrestling Federation (WFF) and also in the Renegade Wrestling Federation (RWF), Polaco jumped in popularity when he appeared several times in Extreme Championship Wrestling.  Polaco also won several ECW World Heavyweight titles.

David Hoadley, born at Waterbury in 1774, is a self-taught architect who was made famous by such works as: 
  • The Leavenworth Mansion, built at Waterbury in 1800 for Colonel William Leavenworth
  • The Wheeler-Beecher House, also known as the Hoadley House, built at Bethany, Connecticut
  • The George William Bristol House, built at Waterbury in 1801.  Part of the entrance threshold is on display, and being preserved, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • The Christ Episcopal Church built in Bethany, Connecticut in 1810

John Francis "Johnny" Moore

John Francis "Johnny" Moore, born March 23rd, 1902, had an impressive professional baseball career over the span of 17 years.  "Another native son [of Waterbury] who played major league baseball", per purported wife of Moore's grandnephew Marion Sullivan Colgan.  "Johnny" is from Waterville, had a batting average in excess of .300 for at least 5 years.  Moore played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Chicago Cubs where, in 1932, he "played in the World Series versus the New York Yankees as Center Fielder to Babe Ruth's 'called shot'.", according to Colgan.

John Joseph "Maximum John", of Italian descent, Sirica was born at Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 19th in 1904.  He later became a Federal Judge, as nominated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, for several years and his stent included the Watergate trials.  He became the famed Time Magazine's Man of the Year in 1973.  He served until his death on August 14th in 1992.  Heritage: Italian​

George Peter Metesky, of Polish descent, was born at Waterbury, Connecticut, on November the 2nd in 1903.  He became known as the famed "Mad Bomber" who reigned unprecedented terror in New York City in 1940s and 1950s.  He got mad at his employer because he got hurt at work, and went on a bombing rampage for 16 years.  After being put in jail, a judge later determined that he could not be held there since he was not convicted by a jury (he was determined to be incompetent to stand trial).  He was transferred to a psychiatric hospital, where doctors evaluated him as being of no threat to others and therefore released him.  He went back to his house in Waterbury, where he lived for the rest of his life.  Heritage: Lithuanian.

Gonzales Brought Panthers

The Black Panthers were comprised largely, but not exclusively, of African-Americans.  During this time, most cities feared this group, which used the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America as a rightful enabler for people to carry arms, as a threat to the safety and policing forces of their municipalities. 

In Waterbury, progressive Mayor Harlamon enabled a youth group, Young Black Militants, to self-patrol their neighborhoods.  Despite strong opposition from the police department, the program was a success; the first night was "the quietest time the streets have ever seen".

Joseph William Rossi, born in Waterbury, Connecticut of Italian descent, is said to be the father of United States Special Operations (Special Ops).  After fighting in the United States military, he went back to Asia to study various martial arts.  Although most of his military career is still kept secret, he later trained many professional athletes in various defense and fighting specialty fields.  He affectionately became known as "Joe Dundee", "Karate Joe", and "Grand Master Rossi".  His studies and techniques evolved to what is now referred to as the "Rossi Kun Tao System".
