Police Standoff with Disputing Neighbors
Police responded to a dispute between two neighbors on Central Avenue on Thursday afternoon.  One of the neighbors became combative and assaulted officers as they tried to enter the home.  The man then barricaded himself inside the residence.  Police evacuated the surrounding building and called in a negotiation team and Crisis Intervention Team to resolve the situation.  After over three hours, officers were able to safely take the enraged man into custody.  He was found to be in possession of a pepper ball pistol, a sword, and illegal drugs.  He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and is now facing several charges, including assault on a police officer and drug offenses.
