East Mountain Neighborhood Association Meetings

February 16th, 2022
​The East Mountain Neighborhood Association (EMNA) will be holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church.
 
This month’s guest speaker will be Audre Coles from the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging. Ms. Coles will be talking about elderly issues and what the agency has to offer, and will be available to answer any questions that members may have.
 
We will also have an update from our Community Relations Officer Ray Zulali on any outstanding police issues in the neighborhood and across the city.  Alderman Mike DiGiovancarlo will also update us on city issues being addressed by the Waterbury Board of Aldermen.  Any questions and issues regarding the neighborhood that members wish to have addressed will also be welcomed.

The East Mountain Neighborhood Association (EMNA) Announces It's Monthly Member Meeting for March 2018

​The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding it's monthly member meeting on Wednesday, March 21st, 2018* starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Cedars Hall at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, which is located at 8 East Mountain Road (see the location map below). 

The guest speaker for this month will be Robert Dorr, Secretary and Treasurer of the Waterbury Veterans Memorial Committee.  He will be discussing the mission of the Committee, and upcoming events that the Committee is working on and will be available for questions. 

Also Community Police Officer Tiffany Healey will be discussing police activity here in the neighborhood and across the city, and will be available to the attendees who want to express any concerns and ask any questions. 

State Representative Stephanie Cummings will also be talking about what is happening at the State Capital on solving our budget crisis and other issues coming before the state legislature, and will be available to take questions and respond to comments. 

Tom Brunnock will be presenting an update on the proposed commercial development behind Saddle Brook Road, and will also take questions and address comments. 

Upcoming events for EMNA will be discussed, such as the upcoming Earth Day events and the Grant status for this current year.  

Attendees' concerns and issues will also be addressed. 

The public is invited and refreshments will be available.  Questions or agenda item requests are to be directed to EMNA President, Mike Stere, at 203 756-6695.

"The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding its monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 starting at 7:00pm in the Cedar’s Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 8 East Mountain.  Community Police Officer Tiffany Healy will give an update on police issues affecting the east Mountain neighborhood and throughout the city and will be available to take questions.  State Representative Stephanie Cummings will also give the members an update on state of Connecticut issues concerning the budget and other issues coming before the legislature.  Plans will be discussed to participate in the annual earth Day cleanup which will be held on Saturday, May 12th, 2018.  Other upcoming events will also be discussed.  The public is invited and refreshments will be served."

East Mountain Neighborhood Association Monthly Meetings and Other Events

​The East Mountain Neighborhood Association (EMNA)* will be holding it's monthly meeting on Wednesday, October 18th, 2017 starting at 7:00pm in the Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 8 East Mountain Road.  Guest speakers include Community Police Officer Tiffany Healy and Connecticut State Representative and City of Waterbury Alderwoman Stephanie Cummings.  Discussions will include an update on the proposed development affecting the neighborhood, the annual tree lighting, and the Christmas social.  This meeting is open to the public, and refreshments will be available.

The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding its monthly meeting on this coming Wednesday, May 20, starting at 7:00pm in the Cedar’s Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 8 East Mountain Road.  Elections for the positions of Vice-President and Treasurer will be held.  Officer Matt Lemos, our Community Police Officer and Alderwoman Stephanie Cummings our representative on the Board of Aldermen will give updates on issues that concern the neighborhood and the city.  An update will be given on our Earth Day cleanup efforts.  Plans will be discussed for the annual Grant Award which will be given out at our June meeting and an update given on our annual picnic planned for that night.  Discussion will also be held on the summer Movie in the Park series which will be held in the month of August in conjunction with the East End Community Club.  The public is invited to attend and if there are any other items that need to be brought to the Association’s attention they may be brought up the night of the meeting or you may call the President at 203 753-2575.  Refreshment will also be served at the meeting.

The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding its monthly meeting this coming Wednesday, April 15, 2017 starting at 7:00pm in the Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church.  This month’s guest speaker will be Detective Peter Morgan from the Waterbury Police Department who will talk about internet fraud, security and scams.  Nominations for the offices of Vice-President and Secretary will be held.  Earth Day cleanup activities in East Mountain will be discussed along with picking dates for our annual “Movie in the Park” which we will hold in conjunction with the East End Neighborhood Association.  A report from the committee on the preparations for the June meeting will also be presented.  Alderwoman Stephanie Cummings and our Community Officer Matt Lemos will also make presentations of items of concern in their respected fields.  All neighbors and the public are invited to attend.  Refreshments will be served.

​November Meeting Announcement

The East Mountain Neighborhood Association (EMNA) will be holding its monthly meeting this Wednesday, November 20th, starting at 7:00pm in the Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 8 East Mountain Road. 

This month's guest speaker will be Mr. William DeMadia who will be talking about the history of the American Flag.   Mr. DeMadia  will also be displaying some of the different flags from his collection.  

The EMNA will be voting on by-law changes for the "Election of Officer's".   Discussion will be held on the upcoming Christmas Tree lighting which will be held on December 1st at the East Mountain Golf Course clubhouse starting at 5:30pm.   Also, our December meeting pot luck social Christmas party, the need for a motion for the purchase of replacement flags, and our annual donation to the WATR Sunshine Fund will be discussed.  

A monthly report will be given by our Community Police Office Matt Lemos.  All members and the public are invited.  Refreshments will be served.  For any questions or additions to the agenda, please contact our president, Robert Perigard at 203 753-2575.

Bridge Dedication

In an email communication, the East Mountain Neighborhood invites residents to "Please join us for the dedication of the Hamilton Avenue Bridge in honor of Thomas F. Conway Sr., former State Representative, 75th District, who served in the Connecticut House [of Representatives] from 1987 to 2005.  The dedication ceremony will be hosted at Veteran’s Memorial Hall, City Hall at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 24th.

Voting Location Change

According to an email from the East Mountain Neighborhood Association, "Voting in the November elections will be taking place at Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church on November 5th.  Hours will remain the same from 6:00am to 8:00pm.  This is due to the demolition of the Wendell Cross School.  The Registrar of Voters office will be sending out notices in October to remind everyone of the change.  Please inform you neighbors as you see them."

East Mountain Meeting and Christmas Social

The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding it's monthly meeting this coming Wednesday on December 20th, 2017, starting at 7:00 pm in the Cedars Hall of Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 8 East Mountain Road.  There will be a brief business meeting with updates from our Community Police Officer Tiffany and with State Representative Stephanie Cummings.  After the meeting the Association will hold its annual Pot Luck Christmas social.  Members are asked to bring some of their holiday favorites to share with the crowd.  The Association will provide the coffee, tea, and other beverages.  All are welcome.

East Mountain Hosts Santa at Christmas Tree Lighting

​The East Mountain Neighborhood Association will be holding its annual Christmas tree lighting at the East Mountain Golf Course clubhouse on December 3rd, 2017, starting with the arrival of Santa Claus at 5:15 p.m.  Santa Claus will be reading the classic Christmas story, “The Night Before Christmas”; he will also be passing out candy canes and be available for pictures.  Everyone is invited and those attending are asked to bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to the local food bank.  Hot chocolate and refreshments will be served.

EMNA Reminds Residents of Responsibility

​As a courtesy to all residents, the East Mountain Neighborhood Association reminds City residents that "... you are responsible (by City ordinance) to clean the sidewalk in front of your property".  Also "an effort should be made by neighbors to clean out fire hydrants for safety reasons, and storm sewers to avoid flooding".

​Movie Night

​The East Mountain Neighborhood Association and the East End Community Club, in conjunction with the Mayor's Commission on Arts & Tourism, present Movie Night in the Park on Friday August 26th, 2016, at 8:15 p.m. at East Mountain Park, for a showing of "Zootopia"  This event is free and open to the public.  Bring chairs, blankets, and your favorite snacks to enjoy a movie under the stars.  20160817

Board of Education Wants Input for Wendell

The Building Committee of the Board of Education is currently accepting requests from members of the East Mountain Community to serve as a non-voting member on the Board of Education’s Building Committee for the proposed Wendell Cross School Extension and Alteration project.  20160817
