Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, may not be as well-known for its basketball program as some of the other high schools in the area, but the school has a proud history when it comes to the sport. Despite being a smaller school, Kaynor Tech has produced several talented players and competitive teams over the years. Basketball first arrived at Kaynor Tech in the 1960s, when the school fielded its first team. In the early years, the team struggled to find success, but things began to turn around in the 1970s and 1980s, under the leadership of coach Dan DeLuca. DeLuca, who had played for Kaynor Tech in the 1960s, returned to the school as a coach and quickly built a competitive team. The Kaynor Tech Panthers won multiple championships during DeLuca's tenure, and he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in the school's history. One of the most notable players to come out of Kaynor Tech during this time was Glenn Bias, who played for the Panthers in the late 1970s. Bias was a dominant force on the court, known for his scoring ability and strong defensive play. He went on to play for Central Connecticut State University before embarking on a successful career in law enforcement. In the 1990s and 2000s, Kaynor Tech continued to produce talented players, including Damon Lewis and Ken Jones. Lewis, who played for the Panthers in the mid-1990s, was a standout player known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court. Jones, who played for Kaynor Tech in the early 2000s, was also a standout player, known for his athleticism and strong defensive play. Today, Kaynor Tech continues to field competitive basketball teams, with a strong program that is respected by its opponents. The school's basketball legacy may not be as well-known as some of the other high schools in the area, but it is still an important part of the school's history and culture. The Kaynor Tech Panthers continue to inspire their fans and alumni, and their commitment to excellence on the court serves as a testament to the school's values of hard work, determination, and teamwork.
