The Hopeville neighborhood is in the South End District of the City of Waterbury.
The Hopeville neighborhood roughly follows Madison Avenue, to Sylvan Avenue, to Pearl Lake Road, to Spring Lake Road, then, roughly west-south-west, not along any roadway, along the border of the City of Waterbury and its burrow of Naugatuck, then along South Main Street, back to Madison Avenue.
The people of the neighborhood have formed the Hopeville Neighborhood Association.
The area is comprised mostly of Irish heritage. In the past several decades, many people of Portuguese descent have assimilated into the area. Most recently, many people of Puerto Rican heritage have made home of this neighborhood.
The City of Waterbury Geogrpahic Information System map displays Hopeville to include Hopeville, Gilmartin, Althea Park, Mohawk, and Jersey, and, arguably, part of the South End neighborhood.
Jersey is part of Gilmartin, and is not generally accepted as it's own neighborhood.
