Berkley Heights / Arlington Heights Family speaks after losing daughter in Waterbury crash wfsb.com; video, article; 20230323 Tragic Accident Claims Two Lives
Late Sunday night, March 6th, 2023, a tragic accident in Waterbury claimed the lives of a man and a woman. According to reports, the accident occurred on Long Hill Road at Transit Street just after 11:00 p.m. The driver, 24-year-old Dashon Ortiz, lost control of the vehicle and collided with two parked vehicles and a house. The impact was severe, and Ortiz suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene. The front passenger, 22-year-old Storm Clinton, was rushed to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the accident, but initial reports suggest that Ortiz lost control of the vehicle while driving at a high speed. The impact was so severe that the car flipped onto its side. The parked cars and the house that were hit were unoccupied at the time, so there were no other injuries or fatalities. The City of Waterbury Building Inspector has examined the house that was struck and determined that it is structurally sound and can remain occupied. However, the tragic accident has left two families mourning the loss of their loved ones. The police have identified Ortiz and Clinton as the two people who lost their lives in the accident. The community has come together to mourn their loss and to support the families of the victims. Sources:

Turf Designation Aid Member Drives, Cleanup
With the help of individuals from the Berkeley Heights / Long Hill neighborhood, Turf Aids, such as the one shown here, assist community advocates in various neighborhood member drives and cleanup efforts.
This image depicts various Turfs within a neighborhood, and each Turf is more manageable for individual and team volunteers. Prior to 2017, these aids were common among the various neighborhoods across the City of Neighborhoods, and were used by various neighborhood associations and neighborhood community clubs, either alone or in partnership with select City departments and like-minded non-profit organizations such as the Neighborhood Housing Services of Waterbury (NHSW), the Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC), and others.
In addition to several volunteers from within the Berkeley Heights / Long Hill neighborhood, various community advocates and leaders from other neighborhood offered a hand, leg work, and time. To name a few: Richard Perrault, David Therault, Joshua Angelus, and Vincent E. Martinelli, Jr.

Possibly the birthchild of former Waterbury Neighborhood Council (WNC) president Joshua Angelus, the Turf tool was used by Angelus, his successor David Therault, and his successor Vincent E. Martinelli, Jr. It is thought that the actual creation and specific Turf designations of this tool is a product of Richard Perrault. Angelus, Therault, Perrault, and Martinelli are also former presidents of their neighborhood associations, Historic Hillside Community Club (HHCC) [Angelus], Upper Fulton Park Neighborhood Association (UFPNA) [Therault, Perrault], and the Town Plot Neighborhood Association (TPNA) [Martinelli].
