This a Facebook group for members, and people who want to be members of the Sacred Heart Youth Group in Waterbury, CT. Our goal and mission is to inspire others to celebrate their Catholic faith, and Christ. We work together to continue building our own faith, and guide eachother through our spiritual journeys. We enjoy going to many Youth retreats, like Steubenville East, Fan the Fire, etc. We also want to work toward serving our community and parish so that things may be improved. Anyone is welcomed, so feel free to stop by. We meet at the school next to the church, on Sundays, from 1:30-3 if not later. Don't worry about feeling out of place, because we are extremely friendly, and love expanding the group. We look forward to seeing you there!!! For the Members: This group is here to allow us to further communicate, so that our project, meetings, and goals will be easier to plan, carry out, and achieve. In addition, I hope this allows us to become organized enough so that we can soon run our meetings on our own, with only the supervision of our "advisors". If you feel any amendments are necessary, would like to give any input or whatever, FEEL FREE!!!! THANKS AND GOD BLESS

History of Basketball @ Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Connecticut, has a proud history when it comes to basketball. The school's basketball program has produced some of the top players in the state, and its legacy in the sport is still felt today.

Basketball first arrived at Sacred Heart in the 1960s, when the school fielded its first team. In the early years, the team struggled to find success, but things began to turn around in the 1970s, under the leadership of coach Ed Generali. Generali, who had played for Kennedy High School in the 1960s, returned to Waterbury as a coach and quickly built a competitive team. The Sacred Heart Hearts won multiple championships during Generali's tenure, and he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in Connecticut basketball history.

One of the most notable players to come out of Sacred Heart during this time was Earl Kelley, who played for the Hearts in the late 1970s. Kelley was a dominant force on the court, known for his scoring ability and strong defensive play. He went on to play for the University of Connecticut before embarking on a successful career as a professional basketball player overseas.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Sacred Heart continued to produce top-level players, including Brett Bissonnette and Tony Hanson. Bissonnette, who played for the Hearts in the early 1980s, was a standout player known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court.
Hanson, who played for Sacred Heart in the mid-1990s, was also a standout player, known for his athleticism and strong defensive play.

In the 2000s and 2010s, Sacred Heart experienced a resurgence in basketball, led by coach Jon Carroll. Carroll, who had played for Sacred Heart in the 1990s, returned to the school as a coach and quickly built a powerhouse team. The Sacred Heart Hearts won multiple state championships during Carroll's tenure, and he went on to become one of the most successful coaches in Connecticut basketball history.

Throughout its history, Sacred Heart High School has remained a fixture in Connecticut basketball, with a strong program that continues to produce top-level players. The school's basketball legacy is celebrated by fans and alumni alike, who take pride in the Hearts' rich history on the court. Today, Sacred Heart continues to field competitive basketball teams, with a strong program that is respected by its opponents. The school's commitment to excellence on the court serves as a testament to its values of hard work, determination, and teamwork.
