Digital marketing encompasses various strategies aimed at promoting products and services through digital channels.  There are many ways to conduct Digital Marketing.  Here's a breakdown of some common types of marketing that may be done through Digital Marketing.  Note that some of these types of marketing can easily be done successfully with, or without, Digital Marketing.

Network marketing, also known as multi-level marketing (MLM) or direct selling, is a business model that combines direct sales with a hierarchical commission system. Here's a thorough explanation of network marketing:

  1. Downline: The team members recruited by a distributor and their subsequent recruits. Commissions are often earned based on the sales of the downline.
  2. Upline: Refers to the distributors above a participant in the network. They often earn a percentage of the sales generated by their downline.

    3. Overflow leg - This is the part of a downline where an upline’s recruits may be place for certain parts of the compensation plan
    4. PowerLine - This is the part of a downline of which everyone in the company shares in some part of the compensation plan
    5. A sub-branch or group within a distributor’s downline. In binary plans, having balanced legs is crucial for earning commissions.
  4. Volume: Refers to the sales or point value assigned to products sold. It can be personal (individual sales) or group (team sales).
  5. Rank: The level or status a distributor achieves within the company, often based on sales volume or recruiting. Higher ranks usually mean higher commission rates.
  6. Breakaway: When a distributor’s downline achieves a certain level, they "break away" to form their own group, affecting commission structures.
  7. Fast Start Bonus: A one-time bonus for new distributors who achieve certain sales or recruitment targets within a specific timeframe.
  8. Residual Income: Earnings that continue over time, typically from repeat sales or subscriptions within a distributor’s downline.
  9. Ongoing Income - a term that is preferred by some lawyers in the stead of residual income.
  10. Passive Income - Earnings for which nothing beyond the initial setup is done.
  11. Semi-Passive Income - Earnings from little or no work.
  12. Build Wide - a compensation model that is typically more generous when people recruit directly under them
  13. Build Deep - a compensation model that is typically more generous when people build under their recruits’ recruits
  14. Carry Over - a part of a compensation plan where points or money is eligible and not yet earned, and which does not expire or wash
  15. Points Wash - a compensation plan whereby eligible but not earned income vanishes or is stricken away at a specific deadline
  16. Duplicated Website - a reproduction of the sponsoring company’s website that is created by the company on behalf of recruits, and which is by default company-compliant
